The Lead Utility Steward serves as a critical pillar in maintaining the operational integrity of our kitchen and dining environments across all cafés and country kitchens in Roslindale. Reporting directly to the Executive Chef, this position ensures that sanitation, equipment maintenance, and safety protocols meet the rigorous standards of the Department of Public Health and the Board of Health. Beyond maintaining a pristine workspace, the Lead Utility Steward acts as a functional leader, providing guidance and training to the Utility Steward team to foster a culture of safety and efficiency.
Your day begins with verifying the accuracy of opening sanitation checklists and ensuring all dishwashing and kitchen equipment is thoroughly cleaned and sanitized. You will oversee the execution of deep-cleaning schedules, manage inventory for cleaning supplies, and coordinate with department leadership to address any equipment repair needs. A significant portion of your time is dedicated to supporting event operations, where you will execute Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and ensure proper setup and readiness for dining services. Throughout the shift, you will mentor staff, model proper sanitation practices, and maintain detailed logs to ensure full regulatory compliance.
We are committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and high-performing environment where every team member contributes to the quality of our foodservice operations. We value strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to the dynamic needs of our multiple foodservice outlets.
