The Lead Service Technician serves as a pivotal figure in our service department, responsible for diagnosing and completing vehicle repairs with a focus on professionalism, timeliness, and quality. Beyond individual repairs, this role involves creating comprehensive repair strategies for the team to execute, ensuring that all work is performed at a fair cost to the customer while minimizing shop comebacks and unnecessary expenses.
As a Lead Service Technician, you will work directly with the Service Team, including managers, service writers, warranty administrators, and parts counter personnel. Your role is central to coordinating repair strategies and estimates, ensuring clear internal and external communication regarding the status of ongoing service events. You will partner with the Service Writer to prepare accurate repair estimates and keep the team updated on current repairs in process. The position requires a professional demeanor that reflects the importance of the customer, as their satisfaction is the foundation of our business.
Your day involves observing and listening to vehicles in operation to verify customer complaints and plan effective repair strategies. You will determine the necessary work from repair orders, complete repairs efficiently within allotted times, and road test vehicles to verify satisfactory results (if possessing a CDL). A significant portion of your time is dedicated to mentoring and guiding other technicians, staying up to date on factory training, and participating in ongoing skill development.
You are also responsible for maintaining a clean and safe shop environment, including proper tool storage, waste disposal, and adherence to all safety protocols. This includes using seat covers and floor mats to leave customer vehicles in the same or cleaner condition than when the repair began. You will manage computerized time posting, coordinate parts needs with the rear counter, and ensure all cores and warranty parts are properly tagged and stored.
Electric Power Generation experience and/or Electric Vehicle experience is a plus.
Interested candidates should apply directly through the company portal. The role requires a full set of hand and air tools, current certifications, and a commitment to safe work habits in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations regarding hazardous waste and OSHA standards.
