Under the supervision of Terra Luke and Tim Haynes, the Lead GIS Analyst serves as a pivotal technical leader within the organization, driving the creation, analysis, and maintenance of complex spatial databases and applications. This role is designed to bridge the gap between raw data and actionable business intelligence, ensuring that departments can effectively measure program performance and make data-driven decisions.
The position goes beyond standard data management; it involves a dynamic day-to-day workflow where you will publish web maps, model intricate workflows, and build geo-processing tools using Python. You will extract, evaluate, and visualize both spatial and non-spatial data to support statistical analysis, metric development, and survey creation. As a lead, you will also provide essential guidance on projects, occasionally supervising team members and interacting with analysts from various departments to ensure seamless interdepartmental collaboration.
You will be the primary point of contact for geospatial support across city agencies, helping to develop data, manage ETL processes, and set up field data collection applications. Your work directly enables the City to maintain robust indoor floorplan data and administer ArcGIS Online organizations. By preparing user guides, training materials, and delivering presentations on enterprise-specific topics, you will foster a wider GIS user community and empower City staff with the tools they need to succeed.
Candidates selected for this role will engage in a structured interview process that includes an initial screening, a technical deep-dive into GIS and Python capabilities, and a discussion on system design and team fit. The final stage involves a meeting with the hiring managers, Terra Luke and Tim Haynes, to discuss project vision and cultural alignment.
We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive workforce. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background, race, religion, gender, or other protected characteristics.
