You will join the Enterprise GIS Team within IT Applications at the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT). This team is the backbone of the state's spatial data infrastructure, supporting over 180 ArcGIS Desktop users and handling approximately 60,000 annual web visits to ArcGIS Server. The group is composed of a support analyst, two ArcGIS developers, two system administrators, a data manager, and a team leader.
The team's mission is to develop enterprise GIS services, applications, and databases that power critical state functions. These applications support diverse operational areas including GIS portals, feature mapping, project planning, emergency operations, permitting, safety, and traffic records. The team coordinates closely with client, server, network, and database personnel to ensure the underlying IT solutions are robust and scalable.
As a technical GIS developer, you will be responsible for configuring and developing custom Esri ArcGIS Enterprise applications (versions 11x and 12x). Your work will involve building solutions using the ArcGIS Maps SDK, Experience Builder, ArcGIS Portal/Online/Hub, and Field Maps, which are deployed within SharePoint websites. You will integrate these custom GIS solutions into .NET-based applications, connecting them to GDOT databases (Oracle/Oracle Exadata, SQL Server), data warehouses, and enterprise reporting tools like OBIEE, Data Visualizer, or Power BI.
In this role, you will translate business requirements into secure, commented, and maintainable code. You will work under broad supervision to design, code, test, modify, and debug software, while also researching and analyzing system problems to provide effective resolutions. The position requires active collaboration with supporting IT team members, management, architects, and business units to ensure alignment with internal standards and best practices.
Candidates selected for this opportunity will be hired for a 12-month contract duration. The role is based in Atlanta, GA, with a hybrid work model requiring presence at the 600 West Peachtree Street, NW location.
GDOT is an equal opportunity employer committed to building a diverse and inclusive workforce.
