About the Role
This position serves as a vital link in our culinary operations at Avera McKennan Hospital. You will be responsible for preparing assigned food items for all areas and special functions, ensuring that production staff are effectively scheduled and trained to the highest quality standards. The role goes beyond food preparation; it involves overseeing the execution of cleaning lists according to inspection standards and ensuring that all culinary staff deliver exceptional food quality and customer service.
In this capacity, you will act as a Buyer/Handler for kitchen products, assist leadership in compiling standard recipes, and collaborate with Facility Services to ensure equipment remains in good operating condition. You will also make recommendations for future menus and check food quality and production daily. This role requires a proactive approach to maintaining a productive, efficient, and safe environment in compliance with safety principles and regulations such as CMS, The Joint Commission, and OSHA.
Work Schedule
The position operates primarily on days with rotating weekends and holidays. The standard schedule involves Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM, covering 80 hours over a two-week period. This includes 10-hour shifts, with every other weekend and holiday rotation. Occasionally, shifts may vary, such as a 7:00 PM closing time.
