This 7-month contract position (May 11, 2026 – December 31, 2026) serves as a vital support pillar for the laboratory team in Elk River, MN. The role is dedicated to the daily management of laboratory samples and the maintenance of document retention systems. You will work closely with the processing team to facilitate the preparation and analysis of forage and food products, ensuring high-quality testing outcomes.
Your work will involve a dynamic mix of sample handling, equipment operation, and strict adherence to safety protocols. You will be responsible for grinding, NIR scanning, labeling, and weighing samples, as well as performing chemical tests on wet samples and raw milk. A significant portion of your day will be spent maintaining laboratory inventory, organizing supplies, and ensuring all equipment is properly calibrated and functioning.
Safety is a proactive priority in this environment. You will participate in the lab housekeeping program and follow designated policies rigorously. Please note that this facility handles various ingredient samples containing potential allergens, including milk, peanuts, eggs, tree nuts, soy, gluten, fish, and shellfish. Strict safety requirements include wearing leather shoes at all times in the laboratory, no contact lenses, and maintaining a clean shave for tasks requiring respirator use.
Candidates must be prepared to meet specific entry requirements prior to the start date, including providing adequate leather footwear. The role requires a high school diploma and at least one year of relevant experience. Strong communication skills, the ability to multi-task, and proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 are essential for success in this team-oriented environment.
