As the Labor Relations Specialist at Utah Transit Authority (UTA), you will play a pivotal role in building strong working relationships between leadership, employees, and union representatives across one of the region's largest public transportation systems. You will join a collaborative, fast-paced environment where communication, fairness, critical thinking, and relationship building are highly valued. This is an opportunity to expand your expertise in labor and employee relations while supporting an organization dedicated to serving communities throughout Utah.
In this position, you will navigate a wide variety of labor relations work, including investigations, grievance processes, collective bargaining support, conflict resolution, and organizational problem-solving. You will act as a key partner to the Labor Relations Program Manager, assisting in the successful collaboration between the labor department, management, and unions.
Your day-to-day impact involves ensuring compliance with the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) and UTA policies while identifying opportunities for process improvements. You will facilitate discussions with business unit management to foster alignment and strong relationships, advise on collective bargaining strategies, and handle the full spectrum of the grievance process—from investigations and calendar coordination to management reviews and logging. A core part of your mission is to ensure just-cause standards are followed and to deliver difficult messages with empathy, diplomacy, and fairness.
Interested candidates should apply before Monday, June 1st, 2026, at 11:59 PM MST. Please note that all offers for employment are contingent upon a successful pre-employment drug test, as UTA is a drug-free workplace subject to federal regulations.
