The KNES Education Specialist operates within the KAW NATION, dedicated to supporting Native American students and youth. The role is grounded in a mission to foster academic excellence and personal growth, ensuring that educational resources are accessible and culturally relevant to the community.
As an Education Specialist, you will serve as a vital link between students, families, and school administrators. Your primary focus is to identify, tutor, and monitor students from 1st through 12th grade who are not meeting academic standards, providing them with the additional resources needed to succeed. You will create and coordinate daily tutoring activities and events designed to encourage students to excel in both their schoolwork and personal development.
This position requires a proactive approach to recruiting students who need assistance and enrolling them in the KNES program. You will engage with students across various grade levels during planned educational activities, building respectable working relationships with parents, students, and school staff. Success in this role depends on your ability to set priorities, organize work efficiently, and coordinate activities independently.
A deep knowledge and understanding of Native American culture and heritage is highly valued in this role. The team is committed to developing strong, respectful relationships with the community, ensuring that all interactions honor the traditions and needs of the students served.
Candidates must be able to pass a background check (with no felony convictions or misdemeanor convictions relating to children) and a drug test. A valid driver's license and insurability are required, as is the ability to pass a physical examination. The position is full-time and based in Ponca City, Oklahoma.
