The RISE Autism Program at Challenger Elementary School is dedicated to creating a supportive community where students with autism thrive. Our mission is to foster a positive classroom and school culture by holding rigorous, high expectations for every student while utilizing instructional practices tailored to their unique learning needs. As a Special Education Teacher, you will be the architect of a learning environment that is accountable, engaging, and responsive to the diverse needs of your students. You will design and deliver lessons that honor each student's community and diversity, integrating cultural consciousness into daily instruction. Your day will involve guiding the learning process toward curriculum goals, differentiating instruction to accommodate various learning styles, and proactively teaching appropriate behavior and expectations.
Beyond the classroom, you will serve as a vital link between the school and families. You will maintain high levels of communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress and wellbeing, developing communication plans that adjust for varying levels of involvement. You will also act as a public relations agent for the district, advocating for student growth and utilizing community resources to enhance instruction. This role requires a collaborative spirit, as you will regularly engage in collegial conversations to influence instruction based on collective data analysis.
