The Junior Seafood Buyer plays a vital role in ensuring the profitable procurement and timely delivery of products for assigned lines within our food and beverage company. Working closely with the Sr. Director of Purchasing and Senior Buyers, this position is dedicated to achieving company goals through effective supply chain and inventory management for promotionally active categories.
In this role, you will interface with various departments and division personnel to accomplish job functions. A key part of your day involves developing and maintaining strong working relationships with vendors, store operations, the distribution center, and division office personnel. You will be responsible for procuring products according to all established company policies and procedures, ensuring that items are purchased at the lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and urgency.
Your day-to-day activities include reviewing acquisition costs, assessing current inventory and market conditions to forecast order quantities, and conducting post-promotional reviews to determine if requirements were met. You will also review and resolve inventory issues at the store level, analyze daily and weekly reports to monitor costs and service levels, and coordinate with Warehouse Operations to maintain proper product flow. Additionally, you will manage Accounts Payable variance processes and resolve store billing questions by researching discrepancies and entering credits where appropriate.
