The Junior Safety Specialist supports the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) Safety Branch by applying foundational quality systems, inspection methods, and safety principles to ensure compliance with contract and regulatory requirements. This entry-level position is designed for a professional developing core competencies under direct supervision. You will play a vital role in workplace safety, product quality, and operational reliability through routine inspections, reporting, and corrective action support.
Your day-to-day involves managing Safety Branch databases, assisting Hazardous Material Control and Management staff with inventories and reports, and conducting formal inspections of NRL facilities to identify and evaluate workplace hazards. You will also help prepare and present Safety and Occupational Health (SOH) education programs, draft technical bulletins, and assist in planning safety events like the Safety Fair and Family Day. This role is critical in bridging the gap between technical research and operational safety compliance.
Candidates must be U.S. Citizens with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance. The selection process evaluates technical knowledge, professional experience, and alignment with KBR's values.

Active or prior Secret security clearance. Experience supporting safety, occupational health, or industrial hygiene programs within a research, laboratory, or government facility environment. Experience working with safety or quality databases, record management systems, or inspection tracking tools.
