Journeyman HVAC Service Technician

About the Role

Located in our Iowa City, IA facility, the Journeyman HVAC Technician serves as a critical partner to the Service Manager, ensuring the reliability and efficiency of complex heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. This role exists to maintain the operational integrity of our infrastructure, ranging from steam and hot water boilers to advanced cooling towers and hydronic systems. The technician acts as both a diagnostician and a builder, performing tests and data analysis to ensure equipment functions correctly while providing expert recommendations to customers.

Work Environment

This position operates primarily independently on HVAC and boiler equipment across diverse environments. Technicians must be prepared to work in conditions ranging from extreme cold to intense heat, depending on the season. The vehicle serves as the mobile base of operations, allowing for flexibility in addressing site-specific needs.

check_circleInstall auxiliary components like air ducts, pipes, and dampers following blueprints
check_circleConnect pipes and tubing to equipment and fuel, water, or refrigerant sources
check_circleTest pipe and tubing joints for leaks and verify system functionality
check_circleDiscuss system malfunctions with customers to isolate problems and verify corrections
check_circleRecord and report faults, deficiencies, and work order details including time and materials
check_circlePerform routine repairs to pump seals, bearings, and other mechanical components
check_circleGenerate work orders addressing deficiencies and coordinate with repair and maintenance teams
