About the Role
The Janitor serves as a vital support to the Maintenance Supervisor, ensuring the cleanliness, sanitation, and overall upkeep of JWCH and Wesley Health Care facilities. This role is essential to maintaining a neat, orderly, and safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors. You will be the first line of defense in infection control, working diligently to sanitize patient exam rooms, bathrooms, laboratories, and common areas while adhering to strict safety and regulatory protocols.
Beyond physical maintenance, this position emphasizes patient care through JWCH's AIDET communication framework (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, and Thank You). You will interact with patients and team members to reduce anxiety and improve clinical outcomes, demonstrating that your work directly contributes to changing lives one patient at a time.
Work Environment & Schedule
Based in Skid Row, Los Angeles, this role requires flexibility to work varied hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. The primary shift runs from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM. The position may also involve travel to different JWCH sites, requiring a valid California Driver's License and a clean driving record.

Key Responsibilities
- check_circleSanitize patient exam rooms, bathrooms, laboratories, offices, hallways, and waiting areas
- check_circleOperate floor cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers and carpet cleaners to remove stains
- check_circleSort recyclable materials and follow proper disposal procedures for hazardous waste
- check_circleAdhere to infection control, occupational health, and emergency preparedness procedures
- check_circleEnsure safe storage and handling of cleaning supplies and equipment in compliance with regulations
- check_circleSecure premises by properly locking doors and maintaining facility security
- check_circleUtilize AIDET communication framework to interact with patients and team members effectively
- check_circleClean and sanitize restrooms including toilets, sinks, and mirrors while refilling supplies
- check_circleReport safety hazards, incidents, and unsafe conditions to appropriate personnel immediately
- check_circleClean and maintain JWCH healthcare facilities including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and polishing furniture
Requirements
- verifiedValid CA Driver's License with clean driving record

- verifiedProven experience in janitorial or custodial work preferred
