This position serves as a hybrid Technical Architect and Lead Developer, bridging the gap between high-level platform strategy and hands-on execution. You will be instrumental in designing, developing, and implementing critical functionality for the Department of Education's Federal Student Aid systems. The role requires a deep expertise in the ServiceNow ecosystem, specifically across ITSM, ITOM, ITAM, SPM, and CMDB domains, to drive scalable solutions that support enterprise-level operations.
In this capacity, you will act as the final technical escalation point for complex platform decisions, ensuring that all architectural guardrails and design patterns align with ITIL frameworks. While 25% of your time is dedicated to defining the technical roadmap and reviewing solution designs, the remaining 75% involves leading complex development efforts. You will write and refactor JavaScript code, build custom applications using ServiceNow App Engine, and guide a team of developers to deliver high-quality, performant solutions.
You will be working within a critical infrastructure environment where reliability and security are paramount. Your work directly supports the mission of Federal Student Aid, ensuring that the systems managing student financial assistance are robust, compliant, and capable of handling large-scale data flows. The team values continuous improvement, rigorous SDLC governance, and the adoption of new ServiceNow capabilities to maintain platform health.
Candidates selected for this role must meet strict federal employment requirements. Successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain a PIV-I card, which involves in-person pickup at a designated location (travel expenses covered by Maximus). Employment is contingent upon passing a criminal background check and maintaining a favorable security clearance. Additionally, candidates must be U.S. citizens and not delinquent on federal student loans.
Maximus is committed to providing a fair and accessible hiring process. If you require reasonable accommodations due to a disability, medical condition, or impairment during any phase of the employment process, please contact People Operations at applicantaccom@maximus.com.
