As an Inventory Specialist at Walgreens, you serve as a vital link between our operational systems and the customer experience. This role is designed to ensure the accuracy and availability of products across both the front end and pharmacy departments. You will champion On-Shelf Availability, managing the end-to-end lifecycle of inventory from receiving and counting to pricing and returns. Your work directly impacts the store's ability to serve customers by maintaining precise on-hand balances and ensuring that essential items are ready for purchase.
In this position, you will not only execute inventory best practices but also train and support your team on standard operating procedures. Whether you are coordinating the proper use of reports to verify system accuracy or managing asset protection techniques for merchandise and prescription drugs, your attention to detail keeps the store running smoothly. You will also play a key role in customer service by greeting shoppers, resolving issues, and modeling service traits that create a distinctive and delightful experience.
Your day involves a dynamic mix of operational precision and team collaboration. You will be responsible for scanning in all deliveries, including common carrier shipments, and ensuring that pharmacy shipments are verified under the supervision of the pharmacist-in-charge. You will execute the On-Shelf Availability process, handling disposals, call-ins, and vendor returns before expiration dates. Additionally, you will manage pricing activities, including price changes and markdowns, ensuring all signage is accurate and regulatory tasks are completed.
When serving as the Leader on Duty in designated stores, your responsibilities expand to include opening and closing the store, managing cash handling, and overseeing point-of-sale transactions. You will act as a liaison between management and the team, coaching others on inventory systems and communicating assigned tasks effectively. You will also assist in preparing for physical inventory days, auditing third-party teams, and ensuring the sales floor and stockroom are ready for business.
To apply, please ensure you meet the basic qualifications, which include one year of prior retail work experience (or six months with Walgreens for internal candidates) and fluency in English. We look for candidates with a demonstrated attention to detail and the ability to multitask. If you are an internal candidate, you must have an "Achieving expectations" rating on your last performance review and no written disciplinary actions in the previous 12 months.
We value diverse backgrounds and are committed to creating an inclusive environment. We will consider employment of qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records. This role is an Equal Opportunity Employer, including disability and veterans.
At Walgreens, we are dedicated to continuous development. As an Inventory Specialist, you will attend company-based trainings and complete e-learning modules, including safety training requirements. We encourage you to obtain and maintain any necessary pharmacy licenses or certifications as required by your state. Our culture emphasizes respectful relationships with coworkers and a commitment to complying with all company policies and procedures.
