About the Role
The Internal Auditor serves as a critical partner in safeguarding the hospital's mission through objective, independent, and ethical audit practices. This role is responsible for planning, conducting, and overseeing internal audits designed to evaluate the effectiveness of the hospital's internal controls, policies, and procedures. By ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, the Internal Auditor identifies opportunities for operational improvement and supports the organization's commitment to strong accountability and integrity.
The position requires close collaboration with hospital leadership, department management staff, Fiscal Services, and the Compliance Committee. The Internal Auditor acts as a bridge between clinical and non-clinical operations, utilizing data analysis and risk assessment to interpret complex financial data, identify deficiencies, and present clear, comprehensive findings to management.

Requirements
- verifiedFive years of experience in special audits, fraud detection, and financial auditing
- verifiedBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field
- verifiedCertified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
- verifiedMaster's degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Master's in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred
- verifiedKnowledge of GAAP and GAAS
- verifiedUnderstanding of internal control frameworks (e.g., COSO) and professional auditing standards set by the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA)
- verifiedFamiliarity with applicable federal, state, and healthcare regulations, as well as hospital compliance requirements
- verifiedAbility in using ERP, EHR, and other relevant audit tools for data analysis and operational auditing
Nice to Have
Experience within a healthcare or hospital setting. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification. Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Master's in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
