Maryland's Family and Medical Leave Insurance (FAMLI) program ensures that all workers in the state have access to paid time off for medical and family reasons. As a social insurance system, FAMLI currently covers 2.8 million workers and 180,000 employers. We are delivering these services as a digitally native, public-facing platform, pioneering a new way of doing business in government by prioritizing web-based delivery.
We are in the early stages of building an infrastructure as significant and far-reaching as unemployment insurance or a new health department. The Financial Services Directorate within the FAMLI Division is responsible for establishing and maintaining an efficient financial system, including internal controls, procedures, and audits, to safeguard funds and manage contributions and benefits payouts.
The Accounts Payable Manager plays a pivotal role in the Financial Services Directorate, serving as a key leader for the Division's daily benefits payments and refunds. This position is designed for a proactive financial professional with a passion for public service who is eager to contribute to the fiscal health and operational success of a mission-driven organization.
In this role, you will manage the Benefits Payouts team, ensuring all transactions are processed accurately and efficiently in compliance with federal and state tax requirements. You will oversee the year-end closing processes and handle special assignments as needed. Beyond execution, you will provide insightful financial recommendations to various stakeholders, helping to shape the Division's financial strategy.
You will fit right in if you value autonomy, strive for mastery in your field, and are energized by solving complex human and organizational issues. We are looking for a strong, inclusive leader who excels at collaboration, delegation, and coordinating complex projects.
The selection process involves a rating of your education, training, and experience against the position requirements. All information concerning qualifications, including required documentation such as diplomas or transcripts, must be submitted and received by the closing date; late submissions will not be considered.
