The Technical Education department at Ozarks Technical Community College is dedicated to fostering career and technical education that meets rigorous industry standards. As an Instructor for Pilot Ground School, you will serve as a vital link between academic instruction and real-world aviation operations. This role is designed to develop and implement daily lesson plans that engage students in their journey toward becoming certified pilots. You will fulfill the duties of a Ground Instructor and Check Airman, ensuring all instruction aligns with Part 141 Ground School requirements.
Your day-to-day involves creating a supportive and professional learning atmosphere where students can master current discipline standards. You will be responsible for delivering 15 credit hours of instruction during fall and spring semesters, with additional summer instruction or internship supervision as needed. Beyond the classroom, you will actively participate in student recruitment, program promotion, and departmental initiatives, helping to shape the next generation of aviation professionals.
Candidates selected for this position will be required to pass the FAR Part 141 Assistant Chief Ground Instructor or Check Airman assessment, including both initial and recurrent checks. The selection process evaluates both technical expertise and the ability to teach effectively within a collegiate setting.

Education: Associate degree required or ability to complete within six months of hire; Bachelor's degree preferred.
Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning. FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certification. FAA Certified Advanced Ground Instructor (AGI). Meeting and maintaining FAR 61.56 current and recency requirements. Three years of work experience as an Airline Transport Pilot. Prior FAR Part 141 Flight or Ground School teaching experience. Experience as a Check Airman or Check Instructor. Knowledge of Learning Management Systems (such as Canvas). Experience working within a collegiate setting.
