California Aeronautical University (CAU) is dedicated to cultivating the next generation of aviation professionals through rigorous Part 141 and Part 61 training programs. Our mission extends beyond certification; we strive to instill a positive, progressive attitude in every student and employee while upholding the highest standards of safety and ethical conduct. As a community, we believe in achieving win-win outcomes for our students and the university, fostering an environment where mastery of flight skills and professional integrity go hand in hand.
The FAA Certificated Flight Instructor serves as the cornerstone of our flight training operations. In this role, you will provide comprehensive flight instruction and ground training to students pursuing private pilot, commercial pilot, and instrument ratings. You will guide learners through CAU's specific training syllabi, ensuring they meet Airman Certification Standards (ACS) while adhering to our internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Flight Information Files.
Your day involves more than just flying; you will manage the student scheduling system, conduct thorough pre-flight briefings and post-flight debriefings, and maintain accurate records of all training lessons. As a mentor, you are responsible for endorsing students accurately and processing weekly activity reports for the Assistant Chief or Chief Flight Instructor. You will act as a liaison between students and leadership, addressing potential conflicts with fairness and respect. Whether assisting with departmental projects or managing unexpected situations, you will uphold CAU's philosophy and ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
Candidates selected for this position will be expected to demonstrate a mastery of CAU's history, features, and program information. The selection process prioritizes individuals who can interact professionally with a diverse range of employees and students, manage multiple priorities under pressure, and communicate complex aviation concepts effectively to both students and senior leadership.
California Aeronautical University is committed to creating an inclusive environment. We treat all students and employees fairly and with respect, regardless of their background. We believe that a diverse workforce strengthens our mission and better serves the aviation community.
