This position serves as a dual-support role at Garden Lakes, combining the duties of an Instructional Assistant for K-3 students with the responsibilities of a Playground Assistant. The Instructional Assistant works under direct supervision to support teachers in the supervision and instruction of students, while also relieving educators of various clerical tasks. Simultaneously, the Playground Assistant ensures the safety and welfare of students during non-classroom activities, managing emergency care and monitoring campus environments to maintain a secure setting.
In the classroom, you will assist students individually or in groups with lesson assignments, reinforcing learning concepts and guiding independent study. Your day involves administering tests to help evaluate student progress, correcting papers, and participating in in-service training to continuously upgrade your skills. You will also handle essential non-instructional duties such as managing snacks, toileting, and clothing routines to support the daily needs of young learners.
During recess and lunch periods, your focus shifts to the playground and campus grounds. You will monitor students in hallways, restrooms, and playgrounds to ensure a safe environment, diffusing potential conflicts and administering first aid when necessary. You will also facilitate age-appropriate games and report any observations regarding student behavior, accidents, or safety concerns to teachers and administration.
Candidates must possess a High School diploma, GED, or equivalent, along with 60 college credit hours, an AA degree, or proof of passing a State-approved Para-professional assessment.
