About the Role
As an After School Assistant, you will be a vital part of our team, supporting children in grades K–6 during their afternoon hours on school days. This role is designed for someone who is reliable, patient, and energetic, with a genuine passion for working with children. You will help supervise students, ensuring a positive and safe environment while assisting with homework, leading recreational and enrichment activities, and maintaining a welcoming atmosphere that reflects our core values.
Your day will involve engaging with students to foster their social and academic development, communicating effectively with program coordinators, staff, and families, and managing daily logistics such as attendance and recordkeeping. Whether you are helping a child with a difficult math problem, organizing an arts activity, or simply ensuring a safe transition from school to the JCC, your presence contributes to a supportive community.
Hiring Process
Candidates must possess a valid NY State fingerprint/background clearance and be willing to complete Mandated reporter training. CPR and First Aid certification, as well as child abuse prevention/safety training, are preferred qualifications.
