About the Opportunity

Astrion is seeking a Junior Information System Security Officer (ISSO) to support the Tenants Contract at the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Munitions Directorate's Integration and Operations Division. Based at Eglin AFB, FL, this full-time role is critical to maintaining the security posture of the Air Force Division within a high-stakes defense environment.

The Role

In this position, you will serve as a key partner in safeguarding information systems and data assets for the AFRL. The role exists to ensure strict alignment with Department of Defense (DoD) security regulations, including DoD Instruction 8500 series and Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes. You will be the primary point of contact for managing security controls, documenting System Security Plans (SSPs), and driving the Authorization to Operate (ATO) process for AFRL-owned systems.

Your day-to-day involves utilizing the Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS) to track and manage POA&Ms, conduct self-assessments, and prepare for audits. You will work within both Special Access Program (SAP) and classified environments, advising and assisting various DoD agencies, including the Office of the Secretary of Defense. Success in this role requires bridging the gap between technical security requirements and diverse audiences, translating complex policies into actionable guidance for both technical and non-technical personnel.
