This position is part of Fleet Operations at MonPower, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. As a team member or individual contributor, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of power station instrumentation and controls. Your work directly supports the mission of maintaining a safe, accident-free workplace while meeting the challenges of a changing business environment.
You will perform a blend of technical, manual, and administrative activities essential to the operation of a power station. Your day-to-day responsibilities include installing, inspecting, testing, maintaining, repairing, and calibrating a wide array of equipment, including instrumentation gauges, meters, relays, communication equipment, and electronic controls.
Beyond routine maintenance, you will investigate and correct problems with station equipment, troubleshoot complex issues ranging from relay-level circuitry to microprocessor-based systems, and utilize Distributed Control Systems (DCS). You will also conduct specialized tests such as stack emissions, river thermal, and heat rate analyses, analyzing results to make recommendations and prepare detailed reports. Additionally, you will coordinate material purchases, assist in spare parts inventory reviews to minimize downtime, and support budget preparation.
Candidates must pass specific selection tests developed by the Edison Electric Institute (EEI), including the POSS B/MASS, Technician Occupations Selection System (TECH), and the Ramsay I&C exam. We strongly encourage all potential employees to review sample test brochures and utilize the available practice tests before taking the actual assessments. Practice tests can be accessed via the EEI website using "firstenergy" as both the name and password. Testing locations are determined based on the job's location within our service territory.
Please note: If you have already applied to the original posting, you do not need to reapply. Ensure your resume comprehensively details all relevant experience, coursework, training, certifications, and accreditations.
