The District Council of Madison, Society of St. Vincent de Paul, is a Catholic charity dedicated to serving neighbors in need with dignity and compassion. As a mission-driven nonprofit, we operate a complex ecosystem that includes manufacturing-style processing, retail stores, food pantries, pharmacy services, and administrative departments. Our core values guide every interaction, fostering a culture grounded in respect, inclusion, and accountability.
We are looking for a passionate candidate who feels fulfilled by giving back to the community and wants to work in a fun, rewarding, and compassionate environment. This role is central to supporting our mission by ensuring our team is treated fairly, safely, and with the highest standards of care.
As the Human Resources Manager for Employee Relations & Leave Management, you will serve as the primary lead for employee relations, workplace investigations, and leave administration across our multi-site operations in Madison and Dane County. Reporting to the Senior Human Resources Director, you will act as a trusted advisor to managers and employees, balancing the organization's need for accountability with its deep commitment to compassion.
This position requires navigating a diverse workforce ranging from production and retail staff to human services professionals and administrative teams. You will apply consistent HR practices while adapting to the unique needs of each environment, ensuring that every employee feels a sense of belonging and is set up for long-term success. Your work will directly support the organization's goal of maintaining a safe, compliant, and inclusive workplace where staff can focus on serving our community.
We are committed to finding the right fit for our team. The interview process is designed to assess both your professional expertise and your alignment with our mission. While specific steps may vary, candidates can generally expect a series of conversations that include an initial introduction, a deeper discussion of your experience with employee relations and investigations, and a final meeting to explore cultural fit and team dynamics.
St. Vincent de Paul is committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming environment for all members of our staff, clients, volunteers, and vendors. We do not discriminate in our employment, services, or volunteerism on the basis of age, race, color, disability, marital status, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, ancestry, arrest record, conviction record, military service, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.
As a Catholic charity, we maintain a specific commitment to our faith-based roots. While we do not generally consider religion in hiring for most positions, certain roles involving liaison with the Catholic Church are reserved for members of the Catholic Church. We also reserve the right to consider whether a criminal conviction demonstrates an incompatibility with the responsibilities of a specific job, particularly regarding the safety of the vulnerable populations we serve.
If you are ready to bring your HR expertise to an organization where your efforts make a tangible difference, we invite you to apply. Please submit your application through our official portal. All applicants must be willing to undergo a criminal background check and provide references to ensure the safety of our clients and community.
