Founded in 1901, the MRA is a nonprofit employer association serving over 4,000 employers and more than one million employees. As one of the largest employer associations in the nation, we help member organizations thrive by offering comprehensive HR services, information, education, and resources to build successful workplaces and a powerful workforce.
We partner directly with companies working with their HR departments and leadership to hire talent. We serve as a direct line to the company, not an agency recruiter.
The Human Resources Leave & Disability Specialist is a pivotal role within the United Community Center, designed to ensure the integrity and compliance of our employee leave and benefits administration. This position goes beyond simple processing; it is about navigating the complex intersection of federal, state, and local laws to support our workforce during critical life events.
In this role, you will manage the full lifecycle of leave requests, from the initial notice of need through to the return to work. You will serve as a trusted advisor to both employees and managers, clarifying the interactions between FMLA, ADA accommodations, Workers' Compensation, and disability benefits. Your work ensures that employees receive the support they need while maintaining strict adherence to privacy regulations like HIPAA and ADA.
A day in the life involves coordinating with insurance carriers, investigating accident reports to identify safety trends, and preparing for unemployment hearings. You will be the bridge between medical documentation and organizational policy, ensuring that every case is handled with professionalism, confidentiality, and empathy.
