Volunteers of America Mid-States is a non-profit organization spanning four states, dedicated to creating positive change in the lives of individuals and communities through a ministry of service. Since our founding in 1896, the concept of "volunteer" has referred to anyone who serves others as a vocation through a commitment to a mission. Today, we are staffed by paid, mission-driven professionals working to build thriving communities.
We provide housing for families, veterans, and low-income seniors, alongside care and support for individuals with developmental disabilities, restorative justice programs, and free HIV testing and education. Flexibility, teamwork, and fun are core reasons our employees are proud to work at VOA.
As a Housing Support Technician on the 2nd Shift at Unity House in Louisville, KY, you will be the frontline guardian of safety and security for our homeless residential programs. This role is vital for maintaining the functional operations of the facility and ensuring a stable environment for our clients.
Your day will involve monitoring the facility in the absence of senior staff, overseeing front desk operations, and managing client interactions. You will conduct hourly walk-throughs of the facility and grounds, check resident rooms, and monitor client behavior to ensure compliance with program guidelines. The role requires active engagement with the community, including assisting with volunteer training, facilitating educational groups, and supporting daily activities like meal monitoring and childcare. You will also maintain detailed records of events, manage intake paperwork, and ensure the facility is prepared for tours and inspections.
Qualified candidates must possess a valid KY ID and be able to obtain CPR/First Aid certification within 30 days of employment. All applicants must successfully pass a Criminal Background Check and a Sex Offender Registry Check. The selection process includes a review of qualifications and experience in residential homeless programs or equivalent settings.
We are an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, pregnancy, age, national origin, disability status, genetic information, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
