Recognized as one of the best hospitals in the United States, the University of Iowa Health Care is Iowa's only comprehensive academic medical center and a regional referral center. Each day, more than 12,000 employees, students, and volunteers work together to provide safe, quality health care and excellent service for our patients. Simply stated, our mission is: Changing Medicine. Changing Lives.®
The House Operations Manager (HOM) serves as a critical operational leader, coordinating and facilitating patient care functions during evening, night, weekend, and holiday shifts. In the absence of hospital administration and department leaders, this role ensures that hospital policies and procedures are strictly followed and that patient care remains safe and efficient.
This position focuses on planning, organizing, directing, evaluating, and improving health care operations, clinical education programs, and research programs. The HOM acts as a resource for nursing staff, providing managerial and clinical leadership to establish effective systems for patient care. The role involves mediating complex problems involving patients, families, or staff, and serving as a key decision-maker during emergency situations. By fostering a welcoming environment and coaching staff on professional development, the HOM helps maintain high standards of collaboration and respect within multidisciplinary teams.
Please include a resume with your submission. Job openings are posted for a minimum of 14 calendar days, though the position may be filled at any time after this period. For questions or additional information, please contact Maggie Fraher at Maggie-Fraher@uiowa.edu.
Successful candidates will be required to self-disclose any conviction history and will be subject to a criminal background check and credential/education verification. This position is not eligible for University sponsorship for employment authorization.
We are committed to fostering a welcoming and respectful work and academic environment where people of all backgrounds and perspectives feel appreciated. We value diversity and inclusion as essential components of our mission to change medicine and change lives.
