The University of Utah College of Nursing seeks an established, visionary nurse scientist to become the holder of the L. S. Skaggs Presidential Endowed Chair in Acute and Critical Care Nursing, established in 2025. This prestigious administrative appointment is supported by an endowment honoring Leonard Samuel "Sam" Skaggs, Jr., a renowned entrepreneur and philanthropist. The Chair is designed to lead a robust, funded program of research, dedicating the majority of time to scientific discovery, advancing evidence-based practices, securing external funding, and contributing to the scientific community through high-impact publications and interdisciplinary collaboration.
The holder of the L. S. Skaggs Presidential Chair will execute a programmatic vision to strengthen the College and University of Utah Health Sciences' national and international presence in acute and critical care research, practice, and education. This role is pivotal in advocating for services and policy that benefit acute and critically ill patients and their families. The Chair will thrive in a collegial atmosphere that promotes cross-disciplinary collaboration, engaging with premier institutes such as the Clinical & Translational Science Institute, Huntsman Cancer Institute, and the Center for Genomic Medicine to drive discovery with meaningful societal impact.
