The Home Health Aide for Medically Fragile Children plays a vital role in supporting families by providing family member-directed care within the patient's home. This position is designed to improve the quality of life for our patients, allowing them to remain in the comfort of their own homes while receiving professional support. The role requires a compassionate individual who can balance personal care, household assistance, and daily living activities while strictly adhering to confidentiality standards and professional boundaries.
Your day will involve executing a physician-ordered plan of care within the scope of practice defined by Florida Law. You will perform, assist, evaluate, and document essential medical tasks, including basic first aid, recording vital signs, and guiding range of motion exercises. A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to assisting patients with personal hygiene, such as bathing, grooming, and dressing, as well as preparing meals tailored to specific dietary and nutritional needs.
Beyond direct patient care, you will manage household safety and sanitation, including infection control and light housekeeping specific to the patient's needs. A key part of your responsibility is thorough documentation; you will maintain accurate records for each visit and promptly observe and report any significant changes in the patient's condition to the Nursing Supervisor. You must be prepared to function in a wide variety of home environments, which may involve exposure to allergens, bodily fluids, and infectious diseases, while maintaining the ability to respond physically and mentally to emergency situations.
Candidates must meet specific state-based requirements to ensure compliance with local regulations. For Florida, this includes successful completion of HHA MFC training and a Level 2 ACHA background check with fingerprinting. Georgia and Illinois candidates must provide proof of specific training programs, competency evaluations, or registry clearances as mandated by their respective state departments. All employees must hold a valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle record and a current BLS provider course.
As an employer accepting Medicare and Medicaid funds, all successful hires must comply with health-related requirements in relevant jurisdictions, including required vaccinations and testing, subject to applicable medical or religious exemptions.
We are committed to providing a supportive environment for our patients and their families. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background and strive to maintain the highest standards of care and professionalism. This job description outlines the essential functions but is not exhaustive; duties may evolve to meet the changing needs of our patients.
