About the Role
As a Food Service Driver, you will play a vital role in our Home Delivered Meal (HDM) program. Your primary mission is to pick up prepared meals and deliver them to homebound elderly individuals and eligible persons with disabilities in defined geographic areas. You will also deliver bulk and pre-trayed meals to congregate and to-go dining sites.
This role is more than just transportation; it is a lifeline for our clients. By delivering meals, you help program recipients maintain their independence and avoid premature institutionalization. A key part of your day involves conducting brief wellness checks during deliveries and connecting clients with our Health and Social Services team or other referral partners as needed. You will build positive, meaningful rapport with the seniors you visit, treating them with dignity and respect.
You will operate a vehicle to transport food from the kitchen to storage facilities and client homes, ensuring strict temperature control and sanitation standards are maintained throughout the journey. As a mandated reporter for Elder Abuse, you will be observant of your surroundings and ready to report any suspicious circumstances to Adult Protective Services. Your work ensures that every meal arrives safely, contributing to the well-being of our community.
