As a Highway Technician Associate, your day-to-day work will take you to the roadside, where you will play a vital role in keeping Iowa roadways safe for families and friends. You will be responsible for patching roadways, repairing guardrails, signs, fences, lighting, culverts, and waterways, as well as managing vegetation control and debris removal. Your duties also include participating in traffic control for maintenance activities and operating snow equipment to clear roadways of snow, ice, and frost.
This role offers variety and the freedom to flourish in a dynamic environment. While the standard shift is 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday, the position requires flexibility. You may be subject to on-call status 24 hours a day during emergencies or severe weather conditions, and some overnight travel may be required to support statewide operations.
