Bayhealth Medical Center stands as the healthcare leader for Central and Southern Delaware, serving communities through hospitals in Dover and Milford, a stand-alone Emergency Department in Smyrna, and a hybrid Emergency Department and Urgent Care in Milton. With practice settings spanning Kent and Sussex Counties, our organization is dedicated to building a future where patients can thrive.
Our Sussex Campus offers a unique blend of professional opportunity and lifestyle, located just 30 minutes from the Delaware beaches. Meanwhile, our Kent Campus provides easy access to major metropolitan areas, situated 90 minutes from Philadelphia, Washington, DC, and Baltimore. We invite professionals who care about growth, making a difference, and building a life to join our team.
As a Hematologist-Oncologist at our Sussex Campus Hospital, you will provide comprehensive care and medical oversight for patients with malignant diseases and hematologic disorders. This role is pivotal in ensuring quality services through the effective use of interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse medical staff.
You will serve as a representative of the Bayhealth Oncology Service Line to both the medical staff and the community. Your day will involve utilizing evidence-based guidelines to deliver timely oncology services, meeting with newly diagnosed cancer patients or those with benign hematology conditions to collaborate on treatment processes. You will educate patients and families regarding disease processes, diagnostic procedures, and treatment goals, while communicating plans with multidisciplinary teams including Nurse Practitioners, RN Chemotherapy specialists, and RN Navigators.
Beyond direct patient care, you will advocate for best practices in multidisciplinary conference settings, collaborate with surgery, radiation oncology, radiology, and pathology teams, and participate in Bayhealth's Clinical Research Program to recommend or enroll patients in studies. You will also work with Oncology Administration to improve departmental workflows and actively contribute to the strategic vision of the Oncology Service Line.
We are looking for candidates who are Board Eligible in hematology and oncology. While no prior experience is required, Board Certification is preferred. If you are ready to discuss how your skills align with our mission, we invite you to apply and start a conversation about your future with us.
