This position serves as a vital support role within the Sustainability Services onsite program, focusing on hazardous and non-hazardous waste management projects. The role is designed for individuals who thrive in a hands-on environment, performing essential manual labor associated with chemical handling, lab packing, and drum operations such as bulking and crushing. As a key member of the team, you will ensure that waste types are properly segregated, labeled, and packaged in strict compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
Your day will involve a mix of physical activity and regulatory adherence. You will be responsible for collecting, transferring, and consolidating solid, liquid, and hazardous materials, often lifting objects up to 50 pounds. The work requires maintaining good housekeeping, keeping accurate tracking logs, and ensuring regulatory shipment windows are met. You may also provide labor support at specific hazardous waste pads or assist in sorting trash for recyclables. While the role requires the ability to work independently, you will also function as part of a collaborative team, potentially providing direction to less experienced technicians.
Safety is paramount in this environment. You will be expected to wear required personal protective equipment, participate in safety processes, and immediately report any unsafe conditions or incidents. The role demands adherence to Environmental and Quality Management System policies (ISO 14001/9001) and compliance with EPA, OSHA, and DOT regulations. Additionally, you will identify opportunities to reduce waste volumes and generate cost savings for customers.
This position operates in a physical environment that may involve odors, noise, and exposure to chemicals, cuts, or burns. The work requires significant motor coordination and physical effort throughout the day. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
