The Health Specialist serves as a critical link between the CDC and the public, providing advanced and accurate clinical inquiry responses regarding disease control, prevention, and national emergency situations. This includes addressing complex questions on bioterrorism, first responder protocols, and current health events from medical professionals, educators, and government agencies.
You will act as a subject matter expert on CDC topics such as HIV/AIDS, immunizations, environmental health, NIOSH, tuberculosis, and statistics. The role requires responding to inquiries resulting from current events, including food outbreaks and natural disasters, while performing advanced database searches and composing detailed reports and correspondence.
This is a temporary position based in the Continental US, requiring you to work from a private, secure home office. You must be available to work an 8-hour shift between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM EST, Monday through Friday.
As this is a remote role, you are required to use your own personal equipment. Specific technical requirements include a high-speed internet connection (25 Mbps minimum, 50 Mbps for shared connectivity) via a Category 5 or 6 ethernet cable, a personal computer (Windows 10/11 or Mac Big Sur/Catalina/Monterey), a webcam for training, and a smartphone for system login. Chromebooks, tablets, and notebooks are not permitted.
