At Kaiser, the Health Information Management (HIM) department serves as the backbone of data integrity and compliance within our health plan. Our mission is to ensure the highest quality of care for members by maintaining rigorous standards in health information governance. The team collaborates closely with physicians, medical staff, and various departments to facilitate the seamless transfer of critical information, ensuring that every record supports our commitment to accrediting and governing agency standards.
The Health Information Management Manager provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for the HIM department. This role exists to bridge the gap between clinical documentation, regulatory compliance, and financial accuracy. You will manage a diverse team including HIM supervisors, technicians, transcriptionists, and clerks, ensuring that all projects are completed on schedule and that data integrity is maintained across all systems.
In this position, you will act as a consultative expert on health information compliance, navigating complex regulations from The Joint Commission, NCQA, CMS, and state laws. Your day-to-day involves resolving routine departmental problems, implementing quality improvement methodologies, and representing the department in inter-departmental activities. You will also be responsible for developing policies, managing budgets, and fostering a collaborative environment where staff are trained and empowered to meet mutual goals with medical staff.
Qualified applicants will be considered for employment in a manner consistent with Federal, state, and local laws. External hires must pass a background check and drug screen. The selection process evaluates candidates based on their experience in HIM operations, supervisory capabilities, and ability to thrive in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
Kaiser is an equal opportunity employer. We consider qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, protected veteran status, or disability status. We are committed to building a diverse workforce that reflects the communities we serve.
