The Health Aide serves as a vital support to the school community, ensuring a healthy and safe environment for all students. Reporting to the Building Principal(s) and School Nurse, this role is dedicated to providing essential first aid, medication administration, and treatment for student illnesses. The position requires a professional who can effectively triage student needs within the clinic setting while maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality and care.
In this role, you will manage the daily operations of the school clinic, from conducting health screenings and maintaining immunization records to administering medications and tube feedings. You will work closely with the school nurse to monitor communicable diseases, prepare educational materials on health topics for teachers and parents, and assist with kindergarten registration. A significant portion of the day involves accurate record-keeping, communicating with parents and staff regarding student health, and ensuring the clinic remains orderly and fully stocked with necessary supplies.
This position operates under strict adherence to HIPAA and FERPA mandates to protect student privacy. The Health Aide is expected to maintain current CPR and AED certifications and practice safe procedures, including the use of protective clothing, to mitigate risks associated with blood-borne pathogens and other health hazards. By maintaining a clean, organized, and discreet environment, the Health Aide helps uphold the school's commitment to student well-being.
