The Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners (MBLC) is dedicated to maintaining and strengthening the Commonwealth's free public libraries. Our goals include providing statewide and regional programs to improve library services, supporting resource sharing and technology utilization, and delivering specialized services to blind and physically handicapped residents.
This position serves as a strategic leader for the Library Advisory and Development Unit. You will supervise and direct staff while overseeing the federal Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) program, from budget creation to grant administration and new program development. The role requires coordinating the State Advisory Council on Libraries and providing advisory services to public library directors, trustees, and community groups.
As a member of the agency management team, you will guide the provision of services to special populations, lead preservation and disaster recovery initiatives, and foster partnerships with other state agencies and organizations. You will act as a flexible, future-focused leader who supports and motivates professional employees while managing complex deadlines and details.
