Freeform builds AI-native manufacturing systems that unify software, hardware, and physics to produce industrial-scale parts at the speed of human ideation. By treating manufacturing as a single integrated system, we unlock a new era of innovation where complex hardware is designed, built, and scaled without limits.
We operate from a vertically integrated facility in Hawthorne, bringing technology development, R&D, and production together under one roof. Located at the center of LA's deep tech ecosystem, we are surrounded by some of the most ambitious hardware innovation happening anywhere in the country.
As Head of Electrical (Hardware Design), you will lead and build our electrical engineering team, effectively developing the nervous system of our technology stack. This is a unique hybrid leadership position: while you will provide technical guidance and drive continuous improvement in our R&D process, you will also spend a significant portion of your time working alongside the team as an individual technical contributor.
You will serve as the primary technical architect for all electrical elements in the system, leading design, analysis, and simulation efforts. Success in this role requires a smart, motivated, and collaborative engineer who loves solving hard problems and creating amazing technology. While 3D printing experience is not required, we look for those with extensive technical breadth in electrical engineering concepts and specific expertise in architecting complex electromechanical or robotic systems.
We foster an inclusive and diverse culture that values collaboration, learning, and making deliberate data-driven decisions. Our fast-paced, cross-functional environment is built on close collaboration, requiring full-time onsite presence (five days a week) to facilitate effective communication and side-by-side work with software, mechanical, and process engineering teams.
