The Robotics, Controls, and Automation Engineering Advisor serves as a senior technical leader defining the strategy, architecture, and implementation roadmap for automated and autonomous systems across land and offshore drilling operations. This role is pivotal in evolving the enterprise from traditional automation to high-reliability robotic systems, specifically targeting personnel-free drill floors and next-generation robotic pipe-handling solutions.
You will provide deep cross-domain expertise in robotics, mechatronics, controls, AI-enabled autonomy, and OT/IT systems. Your work will directly impact operational safety by reducing personnel exposure and driving automation maturity. The position focuses heavily on robotic manipulation, perception-driven automation, safety-rated systems, and advanced motion-control architectures that enable reliable, high-performance robotic solutions in harsh environments.
As the Advisor, you will architect and guide the implementation of complex control systems spanning PLCs, real-time controllers, and SCADA environments. Your day involves directing the development of autonomy layers, including sensor fusion and AI-driven decision-making, while overseeing the integration of perception technologies like LiDAR and 3D vision for autonomous pipe detection.
You will lead field deployments, commissioning, and troubleshooting of robotics platforms on operational rigs, ensuring reliability and safety in demanding conditions. Beyond technical execution, you will mentor engineering teams, collaborate with drilling operations and cybersecurity stakeholders, and drive a culture of innovation and "right-first-time" engineering.
Candidates will undergo a multi-stage evaluation designed to assess both technical depth and strategic leadership capabilities. The process typically includes:
We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive workforce. We consider qualified applicants regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic.
