This position serves as the head of Huntington's Corporate Accounting Policy function, acting as a central subject matter expert for the organization's technical accounting landscape. The role is designed to ensure rigorous adherence to U.S. GAAP and FASB standards while navigating the complexities of the banking and financial services sector.
You will lead the maintenance of corporate accounting policies and provide critical oversight for complex, non-routine transactions. This includes guiding the bank through new accounting standards, product implementations, and significant policy updates. The role extends beyond policy maintenance to actively support strategic initiatives, including Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A), venture investments, and regulatory policy. You will work closely with business units, corporate finance, and controller teams to ensure accurate financial statement presentation and proper accounting treatment for leases, capitalized assets, and credit reserve processes.
As a key advisor on highly technical matters, you will contribute to purchase accounting, acquired portfolio valuations, and impairment assessments. Your expertise will be essential in structuring investment opportunities and advising on the bank's credit allowance policies. This role requires a deep understanding of loss estimation techniques and the fair value of various financial instruments, ensuring the organization maintains the highest standards of financial reporting and regulatory compliance.
