This dual-position role at Ozark Public Schools combines the responsibilities of a Head Baseball Coach and Assistant Football Coach with a Secondary Teacher assignment. The position is designed for an educator who is passionate about shaping student athletes both on the field and in the classroom. As a teacher, you will deliver district-approved curriculum, differentiating instruction to meet the diverse needs of every student, from those with individual education plans to gifted and talented learners. Simultaneously, as a coach, you will lead teams through rigorous training, fostering a culture of sportsmanship, discipline, and competitive excellence.
The role exists to bridge the gap between academic achievement and athletic development. You will serve as a mentor who motivates students to appreciate the value of sports while ensuring their academic eligibility is maintained. Your day will involve planning and delivering engaging lessons, organizing team practices, and managing the logistics of competition, all while modeling professional behavior for students, parents, and the community.
You will report to the Building Principal, the Athletic Director, and the Superintendent, working closely with a collaborative staff to support the holistic growth of students. This position requires active engagement with the broader school community, including communicating with booster clubs, service organizations, and the news media to promote the school's athletic and academic programs. You will also coordinate with paraprofessionals, volunteers, and parents to create a safe, orderly, and supportive environment for learning and competition.
Candidates must hold a valid teaching license for the assigned grade level and subject area, meeting all certification requirements set by the Division of Elementary and Secondary Education and the Arkansas Activities Association. The selection process will focus on identifying individuals who demonstrate the ability to interpret complex regulations, solve practical problems, and establish effective relationships with students and peers.
