At Grand Street Settlement, the Youth Services department is dedicated to fostering growth, leadership, and positive self-image among elementary, middle, and high school students. The Group Leader serves as a vital part of this mission, working within the Williamsburg Community Center to create a safe, inclusive, and professional environment where young people can thrive.
As a Group Leader, you will be the face of our program, guiding youth through a diverse range of activities including homework help, STEM, health and wellness, performing arts, and literacy. This role is more than just supervision; it is about building rapport, facilitating curriculum, and acting as a positive role model. You will work collaboratively with your team to cultivate group cohesiveness, solve problems directly with youth, and support their personal development.
Your day will involve designing and implementing project-based activities, maintaining safety protocols, and documenting youth progress. You will also have the opportunity to coordinate community relations, assist in organizing events, and supervise youth workers and interns. The position requires a flexible schedule throughout the school year, with shifts varying based on program needs.
To apply, please submit a resume and a thoughtful cover letter outlining how your skills and experience meet the qualifications of the position. If selected, you will be asked to provide three professional references, with at least one coming from a former supervisor.
Applications must be submitted online through our career center via the link provided. Please note that job offers are contingent upon the successful completion of pre-employment requirements, including NYSDOH Fingerprinting, NYS Clearance Review Background Check, SEL, and a physical with an updated TB test. We kindly ask that you do not call regarding your application status.
