About the Role

The Supported Community Living Specialist (SCLS) serves as a vital link between individuals with disabilities and their community, fostering independence through direct support and skill development. Based in Red Oak, IA, this full-time position operates Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The role is designed for a para-professional who is dedicated to creating a supportive, therapeutic atmosphere where residents can thrive.

In this position, you will work directly under the supervision of a Team Leader and the Director of Residential Services. Your primary mission is to assist individuals in developing the skills necessary for daily living, from managing personal health and nutrition to navigating community resources. Your day-to-day responsibilities involve a blend of direct care, mentorship, and advocacy. You will guide residents through activities such as meal preparation, housekeeping, and personal hygiene, while also teaching essential life skills like budgeting and property management. A significant portion of your time will be spent facilitating community integration, ensuring each individual participates in at least one community activity weekly. We value teamwork, self-motivation, and sound judgment. As a member of our team, you will be expected to collaborate closely with colleagues, participate in ongoing training, and maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and safety in the residences you support. The culture is built on the belief that every individual deserves dignity, respect, and the opportunity to live as independently as possible.
