The Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) is a vital initiative dedicated to preparing young children for school success. As a Lead Teacher for the 2026/2027 school year, you will serve as the face of this program, responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of preschool classroom activities. This role is designed for a leader who thrives in a face-to-face environment, guiding a classroom from 8 AM to 4 PM, Monday through Friday.
You will be the central figure in a child's early learning journey, fostering a supportive environment where every participant can thrive. Your day involves orchestrating daily lessons, organizing engaging games, and ensuring that both children and parents receive consistent, high-quality communication. From conducting home visits to administering key developmental assessments, you will build strong working relationships with Early Childhood Specialists and families to ensure the smooth operation of the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids Association.
You will join the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids Association, an organization committed to youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. As part of our team, you will collaborate closely with Early Childhood Specialists and other educators to uphold the highest standards of early childhood education. The role requires adherence to Michigan Department of Education (MDE) guidelines, ensuring that every classroom meets rigorous quality benchmarks.

The selection process will review qualifications, including the required Bachelor's Degree in early childhood education or child development, and relevant experience. Successful candidates will be expected to obtain necessary certifications, including Blood Borne Pathogen training, CPR, and First Aid, within the first 60 days of employment.
