The Hawaiʻi State Department of Education operates as the primary public school system for the state, headquartered in Honolulu, HI. This organization manages the entire spectrum of primary and secondary education across the archipelago, serving students on the main populated islands including Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi, Maui, Molokai, Lānaʻi, and Kauaʻi. The agency employs approximately 22,000 full-time staff members, a workforce comprising teachers, librarians, counselors, educational officers, and various support personnel dedicated to student success.
Current openings are available throughout the state's islands. While opportunities exist across the system, the highest demand for educators is found on the neighbor islands and in rural sections of Oʻahu, distinct from the Honolulu metropolitan area. The department seeks skilled, credentialed, and enthusiastic professionals to contribute to the strategic plan and deliver on educational promises. This structure ensures that the workforce supports diverse communities from urban centers to more remote locations, maintaining a consistent commitment to public education standards throughout the state.
