The Hawaii State Department of Education is committed to hiring highly qualified teachers. While a Bachelor's Degree is the minimum qualification for this position, candidates hired without completing a Teacher's Education Program must enroll in a program aligned with their teaching line within three years of employment. You must demonstrate active pursuit of meeting Hawaii licensing requirements set by the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board (HTSB) annually to continue employment.
Upon hire, you must possess a valid Hawaii teaching license or an Emergency Hire Permit. Applications for the license can be submitted via the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board website.
New employees can expect their first paycheck within the first three pay periods of their start date. Paydays occur on the 5th and 20th of every month (or the previous business day).
