The Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) is the state's social services agency, dedicated to protecting the vulnerable and promoting strong, economically self-sufficient families. The agency oversees a wide range of services including child safety, fostering, adoption, domestic violence support, adult protective services, and public assistance.
Within DCF, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health (SAMH) Program office serves as the single state authority for substance abuse and mental health services. The Office of SAMH is statutorily responsible for planning, evaluating, and implementing a comprehensive statewide system of care for the prevention, treatment, and recovery of children and adults with serious mental illnesses or substance use disorders.
This highly responsible position serves as a Prevention Specialist within the Prevention unit of the SAMH Program. The role is designed for a collaborative team player who works seamlessly across all sections of the program office. Success in this position requires independent judgment, a proactive approach to responsibilities, and exceptional attention to detail.
The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing programmatic oversight for prevention-related contracts and ensuring compliance with prevention data systems and guidance documents. You will maintain program documentation, provide technical assistance to regional staff and external coalitions, and complete annual reports. This role demands the ability to analyze challenges, propose practical solutions, and execute projects with agility and precision.
This is not a telework position. Candidates selected for this role will be required to work on-site at the Tallahassee (HQ) office.
