This GIS Specialist position serves as a critical operational role within a fast-paced, high-volume production environment. The team focuses on maintaining the integrity of electrical utility asset information, ensuring that spatial and tabular data accurately reflect the complex infrastructure of the distribution network. The role exists to bridge the gap between raw engineering data and usable digital assets, supporting the broader mission of reliable utility management.
In this position, you will act as a guardian of data accuracy, utilizing ArcGIS, ArcFM, and custom applications to identify, configure, and transform distribution data. Your day-to-day involves interpreting electrical one lines, schematics, and transmission plan drawings to enter, edit, and update critical spatial records. You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of data maintenance, including digitizing, attribute editing, and rigorous quality control (QC/QA) activities. Success in this role requires close coordination with supervisors and trainers to resolve data issues promptly, ensuring standards are enforced and timelines are met.
Candidates must possess a technical certification or equivalent experience in drafting or GIS, with one to five years of experience in a similar high-volume environment. Familiarity with ArcGIS 10.x and ArcFM is essential, as is the ability to read and understand electrical utility network connectivity. This is a 6+ month contract position based in Portland, OR, operating on a W2 basis.
