The Journey Gifted Middle School Program at Mountain Trail Middle School is dedicated to providing specialized instruction for identified gifted students in grades 7 and 8. Our mission is to foster academic excellence and personal growth by delivering a rigorous curriculum in Social Studies and Science that addresses individual learning needs. The program operates as a collaborative hub where teachers, administrators, and families work together to ensure every student thrives in a safe and supportive environment.
As a Gifted Science Teacher for the Journey Program, you will serve as a key instructional leader, developing and delivering lesson plans that challenge and engage middle school learners. This role goes beyond standard classroom instruction; you will act as a liaison between the school, the District's Gifted Education Department, and families. Your day will involve differentiating instruction to meet unique student profiles, overseeing the nomination process for gifted testing, and leading monthly cluster teacher meetings to share best practices.
You will be responsible for guiding students through complex academic concepts while also counseling them on personal and social development. By collaborating with instructional staff and community resources, you will help drive the school's improvement plan and ensure high-quality student outcomes. This position reports to the Site Administrator and the Director of Gifted Education, offering a unique opportunity to shape the future of gifted education within the district.
Candidates interested in joining the Paradise Valley Unified School District are encouraged to apply through the district's official career portal. The selection process typically involves a review of qualifications, followed by interviews with the Site Administrator and the Director of Gifted Education. Successful candidates must hold a valid Arizona Teacher Certificate, an Arizona Gifted Endorsement, and an SEI Endorsement, with Social Studies or Science endorsements preferred.
