Taco Bell is a leading Mexican-inspired quick service restaurant brand and a part of Yum! Brands, Inc., alongside Pizza Hut and KFC. Founded in 1962 by Glen Bell, the company has grown from a single stand to nearly 7,000 restaurants in the United States and over 400 locations in 27 countries. The future holds 2,000 more restaurants across the globe within the next decade.
While we are in the business of making tacos, at heart, we are a business fueled by the "Live Más" energy and passion of people serving people. We embrace breakthrough thinking and innovative ideas that differentiate us from competitors. We maintain a maniacal focus on our customers, never follow, and always celebrate the accomplishments of our people.
The Restaurant General Manager (RGM) reports to the Area Coach and is responsible for managing a Taco Bell restaurant within company policies and guidelines to ensure customer satisfaction and profit maximization. This role is not just about oversight; it requires hands-on work to train employees, respond to customer service needs, and model appropriate behaviors.
The RGM provides overall leadership by building a culture of recognition and motivating the team. You will drive culture, solve problems, resolve conflicts, and communicate to drive results through others. A key part of this role is recruiting and equipping high-quality operators to deliver great customer experiences while building a healthy bench of developed managers and team members. You will lead by example, championing the culture and living by Taco Bell's HUNGRY principles: Hungry, Understanding, Never Follow, Grateful, Relentless, and Youthful.
Your day involves ensuring the complete and timely execution of corporate and local marketing programs while maintaining a safe working and customer experience environment. You will control day-to-day operations by scheduling labor and ordering food and supplies to successfully fulfill the needs of a $1.0M - $2.0M+ restaurant with average daily transactions of 500-800.
You will drive a customer-focused culture by serving as a role model in resolving serious customer issues and training managers to meet or exceed service standards. By utilizing insights from customer programs, you will help elevate the customer experience and meet satisfaction targets. You will track, analyze, and identify root causes of complaints, leading the management team to implement systematic solutions and performance standards. Additionally, you will monitor Speed with Service (SWS) performance and provide coaching to unit management teams to meet targets.
Financially, you will control the Profit & Loss by following cash control procedures, maintaining inventory, managing labor, and reviewing financial reports. You will ensure the maintenance of equipment, facilities, and grounds through a Preventative Maintenance Plan and coordinate facility upgrades or equipment replacements. By analyzing sales, labor, and inventory on a continual basis, you will coach on corrective actions to meet margin and sales growth targets, working with the management team to develop unit-specific Annual Operating Plans.
